I’ll start off by saying that I’ve geared this review toward customers who anticipate using this bike seriously, frequently, and at moderate to high intensity.I began riding this bike in January, and through semi-regular use, I put 315 miles on it by mid-March. Life got in the way, and I didn't ride again until June 2nd. From that date through early-August, I put an additional 770 miles on. To work toward my fitness and weight loss goals, I adhered to the following 35 minute regimen, six days per week:I would warm up for five minutes at the easiest resistance on the dial (1 out of 8), followed by medium to high intensity intervals of Resistance 3, 5, 3, 5, 3, 5 for five minutes each. I went hard, got a GREAT workout, and lost 30 pounds in the process. So why am giving a 3 Star Review for such outstanding results? Here's what went wrong:At 625 miles, the rubber pedal strap (the piece that holds your foot in place) snapped. It's a cheap part, and though I was out of the manufacturer's warranty, I called Exerpeutic [at (844) 641-7921], and their rep was kind enough to send me a new pair of straps free of charge. Shipping took less than a week and the straps arrived in perfect condition.Around 1,050 miles, the flywheel began to make kind of a whirring and clicking noise at any resistance at or above 5. The flywheel is visible through the top of the compartment it's housed in, and I could see that it began to wobble in there. Previously, I loved that the ride was smooth and whisper quiet. At 1,075 miles, the pedal strap mount (the piece that holds the strap to the pedal) broke off, and took a chunk of the cheap plastic pedal with it (pictured in my attached image). After that, I used an elaborate contraption made of multiple strips of duct tape to hold my foot on the pedal. When I bought this bike, I also purchased an exended warranty from SquareTrade, and I'm glad I did! I called them to see what could be done about the flywheel and broken pedal, and the rep that I worked with deemed that the cost of shipping the bike and its repair was prohibitive... and he agreed to refund me the entire value of the product! (You can read my 5 Star review “A+ Customer Service, Very Good Experience, with a Little Bit of a Wait” of that experience I use the bike almost every day for 10-60 min. I am not a bicyclist and I don't care much for bicycling. It's just a part of an exercise routine. I have a well-equipped gym with free weights and a treadmill and now this bike, which replaced treadmill as a go to for cardio. Treadmill requires some prep, shoes etc, while this bike requires nothing. Just hop on barefoot and do it. Sometimes as little as 10 min just to warm up.The bike assembly was easy following the video. It took me ~30 min. No tools besides whatever was provided required. One problem I discovered when assembling was the covers (part 19). They were both (left and right) cracked. During assembly I thought it was not a big deal, but as I nearly finished I saw that damage was more serious. The covers are primarily cosmetic and protect the mechanism against dust. So, I decided to ask for new covers - it's supposed to be a new bike after all. I emailed the company and they sent me covers and a link to a video on how to assemble them. Replacing covers took me longer than assembling the bike. There are 3 pieces there and they all have to snap together just about right or else it all goes crooked. The pieces themselves are flimsy, which is fine as they bear no load, but certainly for shipping they better be handled with care (which is stated on the box). Anyway, I did manage to put them on and am very happy with the bike, so here's the summary. When you get the bike, check the covers first. If cracked, unless you enjoy screwing (no pun, there are multiple screws on both sides which have to fit just about right to match predrilled holes) just send the whole bike back for a replacement. The bike is exceptional sturdy otherwise. Very comfortable and the monitor provides basic function and is easy to use. I usually watch something on TV when biking so it's perfect to occasionally check heart rate and speed to make sure that I don't slack off.The most important thing is that the bike is silent! Unlike the bike I used to have and which I hated and hence used little because of that hiss from the belt, this bike you virtually can't hear. So, you can watch TV w/o interference. I have the bike for about a month and so far no problems. This is the first time I have ever seen this on an instruction manual. And to top it off. It’s not #1 or even #11. It’s #20. The very last warning. That you probably will not read cause we just skip through all that warning stuff cause you usually See - warning do not have it near waterDon’t let children play on it.. which we have all seen and heard a million times. But this is about cancer and reproductive harm. Wth. What did I just open up in my home and expose me and my family to without knowing. Cause you all don’t have that in your discription. What is it that is in this product that can cause cancer or reproductive harm to me and my family. Cause that site you all so graciously put in here to send us to. Isn’t telling us either. So how about a response for the people. Thx.I wouldn't recommend purchasing this item. It was my second time purchasing the Exerpeutic 1200 and both bikes had the same defect. The Exerpeutic 1200 can’t sustain its own higher tension levels. Once the Exerpeutic 1200 is used at the 8 tension level, the tension mechanism starts to break down. The rubber or plastic that's used to create tension against the Exerpeutic 1200's wheel literally begins to break and falls to the floor. Also, the rubber or plastic that breaks up against the Exerpeutic 1200 wheel creates uneven tension on the bike's left and right side.It happened the first time I purchased the Exerpeutic 1200, but it took me a year to reach the 8 tension level, so I assumed it was simply wear and tear for having the bike for 12 months. However, the new Exerpeutic 1200 that I purchased just over a month ago has the same defect.I recommend avoid making this purchase. Also, getting a refund will be a hassle because it involves bringing a full-sized exercise bike all the way to a post office.Just put the bike together. The people who make this bike should show Ikea how to make easy to assemble products. Take your time very ease to assemble clear easy instructions and good included tools. Go slow and easy 35mins max to put together.Solid well built product. Comfortable seat. Great seat adjustment for your hight.Display is not back lit, it seems accurate. I'll be using my fit watch. Extremly quiet on max (8) resistance. If your a hard core fittness buff who wants resistance equal to pushing a cement truck up hill, this bike is not for you. Resistance on this goes from mild to moderate. It kicks in on level 6. Mind you I cycle a lot in summer so this may have something to do with it.Over all for the average to some what in shape persone who wants to kick up thier cardio or loose weight this is a 5 on 5 product. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to work out at home.I really LOVE this bike. I’m a larger woman and so I needed something with a higher capacity but also a good price.i chose this bike for those reasons. I am very happy I’ve used it every day for a week and I could not be happier. It folds up small so I put it away everyday when I’m done. I love the seat, I find on other bikes I’ve used at the gym I usually quit not because I’m tired but because my ass hurts lol so i really love this bike because the seat is very wide and comfortable. This helps me keep going every day. The design is really smart and the bike itself is very well made. I like how easy it is to change the difficulty and the screen is handy. I use an Apple Watch to track my fitness and I have to note that the bike is wrong when counting calories my bike says I’ve burned 20% more than my watch does. So I don’t count what my bike tells me I just use the display to watch my speed. Putting the bike together was very easy I had it done in half an hour. Overall I could not be happier with my new bike and it’s really helping me with my new lifestyle goals. Something else that annoyed me while ordering it though was the fact that I added the item to my cart on a Wednesday, I waited till payday on Friday and the price had changed from $180 to $228. NOW I see it’s listed for $250. That’s really annoying. The delivery date originally given to me by amazon was correct it took 1 week. Amazon changed it to be sooner half way thru then it just didn’t show till the1 week mark so I called and complained and they gave me a $5 credit for the misinformation. Overall I love my bike and I would buy it again even at the $250 price it’s worth the money. I love that is folds up to a very small 1.5 ft by 2 ft space. We obviously couldn't get to the gym during lockdown so we were looking for something sturdy and comfortable to use at home and this bike perfectly suited our needs. It arrived incredibly well-packed with really easy to follow instructions - I'd say it took less than an hour to put together but we were taking our time (we have been known to put things in back to front or upside down.)My husband uses the bike every day and I use it about three times a week - it's helping us both. It has a useful display and adjustable resistance so you can monitor progress. We both really appreciate the comfortable seat too!
